Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook

stayed here the other night. room was clean but the staff was one of the worst i’ve encountered. i checked in early evening and the two guys that were working; one was definitely high and the other had an attitude. maybe Hilton only lets its best employees work the day shift but i felt very uncomfortable. it was unprofessional and i didn’t feel welcomed at all.

Ok so let me lay out a couple of reasons this us not 5 star keep in mind I travel for a living: 1. $300 deposit for incidentals is very high. The restaurant/bar was even closed for renovations. If you have been burned that many times change your internal procedures. 2. Not a single pad or pen in room. Yes, this can be important to someone like me who leaves work bag in vehicle. 3. 48 hour prior to stay advance credit card authorization forms ( my company will only pay for hotels this way). I have never had this policy in the hundreds of hotels I have stayed in. So with those 3 things out of the way, rooms are clean, staff is lovely, coffee in AM is great. I have zrro issues with personnel it is purely policy. But honestly I get more value from my stay at Holiday Inn Express in Centrereach. I am on a month's long project and moved over to this hotel because I am a silver Hilton member. I will be moving back to Holiday Inn Express purely over policies. They have pens and pads galore, no deposit and they process cc auth form day of. P.S. not a USB charging port to be found and my bedside lamp power outlet did not work. Sorry just being honest.

This is the best place to stay on LI. The place is consistently clean, staff accommodating and friendly. Lauryn, Luke and Sal at the front desk always go above and beyond to help me. Especially Lauryn, she always checks in with me make sure everything is ok with my room. She makes sure the feather pillows are out of the room because I am allergic. There are many talented and kind individuals that work at this hotel. Hilton Garden is lucky to have them as employees. The all take pride in what they do. Anthony has helped me many times with maintenance items. Michael always asks me if I need anything for my room and if I am happy. Josephine and Wills always make sure the room is perfect and I always change it up as well. I have stayed in the many different set ups from basic to the different suites. You can't forget the bartenders Tevin are Patty and Joe usually is my server on the restaurant side. Food is tasty and service excellent. January, this hotel will be going through a renovation can't wait to see how they remodel the rooms.
